Birth and postpartum support

The doulas we work with

Many of our clients see their doula in the same week. These are the doulas we know and send people to. Bring yours, or ask us who to call.

  • Birth doula

    Maura Burke

Hillsborough and Chapel Hill. Works with families planning a birth at home or in a hospital, and meets them before the due date.

  • Postpartum doula

    Adalina Pedraza

Daytime and overnight help after the birth, in English and Spanish. Many of her families book a postpartum session with us.

  • Birth and postpartum doula

    Nala Burroughs

Orange County and Durham. Runs a monthly circle for new parents and sends people our way when they ask about massage.

Prenatal policies

Side-lying, supported, covered

Every prenatal session here is side-lying, with a long pillow and wedges. We do not ask you to lie on your stomach.

Before you book, ask your doctor or midwife, and tell your therapist how far along you are. Your therapist checks pressure and any area to avoid, and you can stop at any time.

  • A long pillow between your knees, wedges where you want them

  • A sheet over you the whole time, with only the part being worked on uncovered

  • Your belly covered and supported

  • Pressure you set, and the right to stop at any time

What parents say

“I booked the last slot on a Wednesday after work. The room was quiet, the pillows held me where I needed, and nobody rushed me.”

Halle P.Expecting parent

“My doula suggested Lullaby. Both therapists asked about pressure before every new part of the session, and they listened when I answered.”

Samara T.Expecting parent

“I came back after the birth with my baby asleep in the carrier. Mable stopped whenever he needed to eat, and the hour still felt like mine.”

Questions before you book

Should I ask my doctor or midwife first?

Yes. Please ask your doctor or midwife before you book, and tell your therapist how far along you are. If your provider has asked you to wait, we wait for their go-ahead. After the birth we ask for it too.

How will I be positioned?

On your side, on a table with a long pillow between your knees and wedges and bolsters where you want them. You can change position whenever you like.

Can my doula or partner come in?

They are welcome for the first few minutes, to share what you would like. After that the session is yours, and they can wait in the front room.

Can I bring my baby?

After the birth, yes, in a carrier or a car seat. We stop whenever you need to feed or hold them, and the clock stops with us.

Do you work in the evening?

Yes. Tuesday to Thursday we are open until 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday we are open in the daytime.

How does pricing work?

Price follows the length of the session and the therapist you book. It shows on the booking page before you confirm.
